We saw on Thursday how the first official specs on Project Scorpio came to light. Specifications that showed the commitment of the Redmond to make the gameplay in 4K the flag of their new console thanks to a fairly powerful hardware.
Our colleagues, once they knew the specifications, announced the equivalence to mount a PC with similar characteristics.
A solvent team that could move games to such a resolution. And is that after all what matters are the games and although we all fills our mouths affirming that the graphics are not the most important, it is true that they are the first thing that enters our eyes.
And a good example to put our teeth long was ForzaTech, the “demo” that worked at 4K and 60 fps that have left everyone in awe.
A project that however can be left behind or at least that comment from Turn 10 as they claim that Forza Motorsport 7 will be able to match or exceed this quality.
These improvements would come given by the optimization of the use of GPU that FM7 (Forza Motorsport 7) does with respect to ForzaTech as this makes use of an amount of GPU that oscillates between 55% and 70%.
A figure that is far from what would have achieved Turn 10 team with more development time would have reached a figure close to 88% of GPU use. So in the words of Chris Tector, Software Architect in Turn 10:
“It’s crazy but the truth is that we have reviewed our Ultra PC configuration regarding the GPU and we have been able to get more out of it and make it work at 88%.”
Improving what a PC can achieve?
In this way and according to Turn 10 the games would look better than in their PC counterparts, considering that many of the machines do not even reach 30 fps to move Forza Motorsport 6: Apex to 4K. Do we believe it?
We must bear in mind that the demo that we have seen of ForzaTech has very little development time so it would not be surprising that a project with more time behind the back could achieve even better figures thanks to greater optimization but .. To overcome a top-of-the-range PC?
We will have to wait to see when Project Scorpio arrives and if Forza Motorsport 7 is able to fulfill that promise or if we have to wait for something more to see games that if they achieve it when the console is more mature.
